We all know that J.J. Abrams jumped ship from one great sci-fi franchise after directing two Star Trek movies, before taking the director’s chair for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But we didn’t know just how much his experience directing his Star Trek films would influence The Force Awakens…until now.

With the release of the latest Force Awakens teaser today, it’s now readily apparent that J.J. has merely cribbed his prior work on Star Trek for the new Star Wars film. Boy are those Star Wars fans gonna be disappointed.

And then, just when you thought he couldn’t stoop any lower, we even see that the new Star Wars rips off on actual character, Star Trek’s beloved “garbage can flotsam” droid!

Well, I dunno about anyone else, but I’m planning to save myself 20 bucks and just re-watch the Abrams-verse Star Trek films come December. What do you think - did I miss any other similarities? Let me know in the comments!
